James, J.D.

A Celebration of Life for J.D. James will be held Friday, Dec. 30 at 2 p.m. at Northwest Church of Christ in Plainview with Dee Teel and J. Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. J.D. passed away at his home on Thursday morning.

J.D. was born on Dec. 23, 1928, in Grandview, Texas, to J.W. and Kittie James. He was one of 11 children. J.D. grew up in Littlefield and married Patsy Brazil in 1949. They were married for 56 years until Patsy's death in 2006.

J.D. was a farmer most of his life and became a Realtor in his later years. In 2014, he was awarded the Plainview Association of Realtors Pinnacle Award. He had served on several farm boards and had been an elder at 11ty and Amarillo Street Church of Christ for 33 years. After retirement, J.D. loved going to McDonald's most mornings to see his many friends and his sisters.

In June 2011 he married Mary Bloys of Plainview. The enjoyed 5 1/2 blessed years together.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Kittie, and several siblings, brothers Glen, Earl, Jack, Bennie and J.W. James Jr., who passed away the day Jack was born, and a sister Pauline James Gandy. Also preceding were his first wife Patsy Brazil James, his eldest son Troy, a granddaughter Meagan James Bedwell and a granddaughter-in-law Amy Biles James.

He is survived by his wife Mary Bloys James and three sons, Mark and wife Brenda, Jim and wife Mary Ann, and Ross and his wife Tonya. He had four surviving sisters, Mary McCarty, Bonnie Faye and husband Milburn (Mel) Gaston, Helen and husband Mark Pair, and Joyce McBride. He had 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He also had three stepchildren, Greg and wife Sunshine Bloys, Gary and wife Reita Bloys, and Shirley Bloys-Smith, as well as eightstep-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

J.D. was a kind and gentle man with a heart of gold. He was a man that knew God and loved his family. He was greatly loved and will be sorely missed.
