Dunavant, Neil

Memorial services for Neil Dunavant, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1613 W. 24th St., with Bro. Jeremy Gilbert, pastor, officiating.

Neil died Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at the Plainview Health Care Center. Neil donated his body to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, School of Medicine, Anatomy Department, Lubbock, TX.

He was born March 15, 1932, to Phillip and Prue Dunavant at Floydada. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1949 and then attended Lippert's Business School. Neil worked as a bookkeeper all his life, the last 14 years at Excel Beef Packers. He retired in 1997.

He married Nellie Joyce Ratliff on Aug. 12, 1959, at Floydada.

Neil was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Jason Dunavant and wife Karen of Burke, Virginia; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Dunavant of Hartford, Wisconsin; and two granddaughters, Allison Dunavant of Hartford, Wisconsin and Elaine Dunavant of Raleigh, North Carolina.

His son, Keith, and parents and one sister, Polly and one brother, Phil are deceased.
