Gonzales, Larry S.

Larry S. Gonzales passed away peacefully in Lubbock, TX on October 8, 2016 at the age of 66. Funeral services are scheduled at 2 P.M. on Friday, October 14, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Dimmitt, TX with Pastor Domingo Ozuna officiating. Burial will follow at Plainview Cemetery and Memorial Park in Plainview, Texas. Local arrangements are under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, TX. Family and friend visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.

Larry was born on November 17, 1949 in Hale Center, TX to Carmen and Olivia Gonzales. He graduated from Plainview High School and then attended Texas Tech University. He married Susie Ozuna of Haskell, TX on July 18, 1969. Upon moving to Dimmitt in 1978, Larry opened Modern Carpet and later expanded to include furniture. This family business originated in 1955 as a carpet cleaning service started by his father Carmen Gonzales.

He was a pillar of his local community where he served as City Councilman and County Commissioner. Larry was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista of Dimmitt. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, father-in-law, brother-in-law and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

Larry was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Victor Ramos, his father Carmen Gonzales and his mother Olivia Gonzales. Larry is survived by his wife Susie Gonzales of Dimmitt, TX; his sister, Mary Esther Ramos of Plainview, TX and niece, Kathy Gonzales of Lubbock, TX; eldest son Stacy Gonzales and wife Melissa of San Antonio, TX; son Joshua Gonzales and wife Amy of San Antonio, TX; daughter Ysela Gonzales of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren include Zachary, Kerry, Alexa, Karmilena, Gianna and Karmen.
