James, Jack, Mrs. (Lillian M. Carpenter)
Lillian M. James, 95, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Plainview, Texas. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday July 19, 2016 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview, Texas.
Lillian was born in Lamesa, TX on November 21, 1920 to Ruben and Ella Carpenter. She lived in Littlefield where she met and married the love of her life, Jack James. They were married in Clovis, NM on May 6, 1938 and moved to Plainview in 1949. She was a farmer?s wife for almost 60 years, a tractor implement dealer for 53 years and an avid sports fan. She loved the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Plainview Bulldogs. She was a pink lady for over 25 years and a member of the First Baptist Church in Plainview for 67 years where she taught Sunday school. She traveled with the Good Sam?s Club for many years. She was a great mother to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to play dominoes and cards with them.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack James; her parents Ruben and Ella Carpenter, three brothers, Claude, Rayburn and Alf Carpenter; five sisters, Jewel Watkins, Faye Shearer, Mary Lee Ryder, Opal Carpenter and Christine Kimbell; one son-in-law, Mervin Evans.
She is survived by her children: Judy Evans of Lubbock, Kay Shannon and Ronnie of Plainview, Jerry James and LaGay of Plainview, Rickey James and Sue of Plainview, and Tommy James and Sherry of Shallowater; one brother, Cal Carpenter of Santa Rosa, CA; two sisters, Oma Carpenter of Round Rock, TX and Pat Howington of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
