Millican, H.L., Mrs. (Juanita June Elder)

Juanita June Millican, age 86, of Plainview, passed away on July 5, 2016 surrounded by family. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Lemons Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Pollard officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Lemons Funeral Home.

Juanita was born on July 31, 1929 in Plainview to Amos Marcus and Zola (Middleton) Elder. She married Henry Lee Millican on December 7, 1946 and together they raised a family here in Plainview. She worked for Plainview Independent School District for five years as a cook from 1963-1968. Juanita attended Seth Ward Baptist Church.

She adored her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Juanita spent as much time as she could with them. Part of the way they spent time together was playing dominoes and card games. She especially enjoyed playing 42, Hand & Foot and Skip-Bo. She enjoyed watching westerns and family shows like The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, Gunsmoke and Bonanza. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos Marcus and Zola Elder; her beloved husband, H.L. Millican and two brothers, A.M. Elder and Cecil Elder.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Mary Ann Halcomb and husband Ikey; two sons, Alvin Ray Millican of Plainview and Billy Gene Millican of Amarillo; three grandsons, John Henry Haley of Plainview, Christopher Lee Halcomb and wife Shannon of Canyon and Brandon Lee Millican and wife Arielle of Amarillo; one granddaughter, Shelly Denise (Millican) Block of Plainview; two step-grandsons, Jeremy Green and wife Brandy and Clifford Alan "Little Joe" Green, all of Amarillo, four great granddaughters, Shae Lynn Block and husband Arthur and Sydnee Lyann Haley all of Plainview, Chloe Michele Straley and Emily Michele "Monkey Feet" Halcomb, all of Canyon; three great grandsons, Steven Pandolfi of Plainview, Zane Lee (Halcomb) Burton and Keaton Lee "Gorilla Toes" Halcomb, both of Canyon and one cousin, Mary Helen Berner of Plainview. Juanita is also survived by and was so proud to have one great-great granddaughter, Jade Annabel Block, who completed 5 generations.
