Edwards, Ralph, Mrs. (Janelda J. (Nell) Sherfield)

Janelda "Nell" J. Edwards, 77, of Hale Center, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016, in Lubbock. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the Family Center at Ramage Funeral Directors in Hale Center with Mr. Terry Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.

Janelda was born April 19, 1939, in Wheeler, Texas to James Franklin and Myrtle (Glover) Sherfield. Nell grew up in Sweetwater, OK and graduated from Meridian High School in 1958. While growing up, Nell loved singing and playing basketball. She met and married the love of her life, Ralph Edwards, on March 8, 1961, in Shamrock, Texas. She moved to Hale Center in 1968 from Silverton. Nell's greatest pleasures were spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also loved going to garage sales with her best friend, Marie Bland and reading. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Edwards, her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Edwards of Hale Center, two daughters, Carolyn Jean Trevino and her spouse, Scott Braddock of Canyon and Lucinda Jara and her husband, Carlos of Cotton Center, two sisters, Charlene Bagby of Sand Springs, OK and Mable Ferguson of Albuquerque, and her sidekick, Marie Bland of Hale Center. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Nikki Edwards and Clay Peterson, Rocky Lee Trevino, Brenda and Willie Chavez, April Lyn Trevino and Johnathan Nunez, Joel Marquez, Jamie Fay Stowe Edwards and Daniel Goodman, and Mary Garza and Jeremy Banning, and 16 great grandchildren.
