Munoz, Guadalupe R. (Pocho)

Rev. Guadalupe R. "Pocho" Mu?oz, 87, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at his residence. A celebration of life for Rev. Mu?oz will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, at Elim Worship Center with Rev. Roger Mu?oz officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. Rev. Mu?oz will lie in state at Elim Worship Center located at 1310 Galveston beginning Wednesday at 3 p.m. There will be prayer services held on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. at Elim Worship Center. Lupe was born Sept. 16, 1928, in Sinton to Guillermo and Tomasa Mu?oz. He married Rosie Camargo on July 10, 1960, in Sinton and into this union they were blessed with five children; Roger Mu?oz and wife Elizabeth, Esther Castillo and husband Johnny, Rosalinda Mu?oz, Sylvia Trevino and husband Israel, Guadalupe Mu?oz and wife Jameelynn. He started his ministry in 1948 after dedicating his life to God and started his pastorship in 1960 in Sinton. He pastored churches in Hearn, McAllen, Hart and finally in Plainview at Templo Gethsemane which later changed its name to Templo Elim where he was Pastor until his death. Following the trade of his Savior, he worked as a carpenter and worked with the Plainview School System until his retirement in 1998. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and Pastor to a flock too many to number. The echo of God's love resonated through his life and any and everyone who met him knew of his patience, and love for God. Those left to cherish his memory are his children; three sisters, Dominga Mu?oz, Cesaria Manzano and Rosa Banda; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Mu?oz; three brothers, Jes?s Mu?oz, Thomas Mu?oz and Guillermo Mu?oz Jr.; two sisters, Maria Valdez and Paula Contreras.
