Stone, Lloyd, Mrs. (Madeline Doolittle)

Madeline Doolittle Stone died and went to Heaven May 4, 2016 at the age of 95. She fell in her home in Plainview, TX and broke her hip. She was not able to recover from the hip replacement surgery.

The funeral service will be at the 9th & Columbia Church of Christ in Plainview, TX at 2pm on Monday May 9, 2016. Don Stone of Clarendon, TX will conduct the funeral service. Kornerstone Funeral Directors will be in charge of the burial at Plainview Cemetery in Plainview, TX. Visitation will be Sunday May 8, 2016 at 4-6 pm at Kornerstone. There will be no graveside service.

Madeline?s husband, Lloyd Stone, preceded her in death in June, 1981. Their oldest son, John, died November, 2006. Madeline is survived by her son Martin Stone (Breckenridge, CO) and wife, Susie and their children Justin Stone (Breckenridge, CO) and wife Chmurny and Jennifer (Stone) Cauble and husband Jeff (Trimble, Mo). Madeline?s youngest son is David Stone (Maderia Beach, FL) and wife Judith. Brother Lloyd Doolittle and his wife Joan live in Granbury, TX. Nephew Don Stone and his wife Ginger live in Clarendon, TX. Madeline was born in Bethel, OK on November 26, 1920 as the first child of Perry and Annetta Doolittle. Most of her childhood was in Hollis, OK where she graduated in 1936. She married Lloyd (Stoney) Stone March 15, 1937. Together they attended Harding University in Searcy, AR but returned to help run the Stone dairy. They moved to Tulia, TX in 1950 to care for a Jersey cow herd.

Madeline and Lloyd moved to Plainview in 1950 where Lloyd spent 31 years in agriculture services including owning Lester-Stone Co for 10 years. They worshipped and served God at 9th & Columbia Church of Christ in Plainview, TX. Madeline and Lloyd were both cancer survivors. One highlight in their 44 years together was attending John F. Kennedy?s inauguration in 1962. They had dinner with Vice-President Lyndon Johnson; George Mahon gave them a tour of congress and they had coffee with Senator Yarborough.

Madeline finished her teaching degree at Wayland Baptist University in 1953 while pregnant with their 3rd child ? David. She soon began teaching at Ash and Edgemere Elementary in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades. She retired in 1992 at age 71 after 38 years and was awarded Teacher of the Year. Madeline dearly loved teaching and helping children learn creatively. Over the years, the children have rewarded Madeline with their love for her. She touched more than 1,000 children in her teaching career.
