Salazar, Daniel, Mrs. (Maria (Mary) Soto)

Maria Salazar Soto, 59, of Plainview, passed away on Thursday April 14, 2016. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, at Templo Sinai, 220 E. Sixth St. with Pastor Ignacio Soto officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery. There will be a prayer service on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home. Maria was born on March 24, 1957, in Ropesville, Texas, to Bicente and Refugia (Aguirre) Soto, Jr. She married Daniel Salazar on Feb. 17, 1997, in Plainview. She was proud to be a homemaker and spent her life raising her four sons. Aside from her family, her passion was serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was an active member of Templo Sinai for over 17 years. She was a gifted singer on the Praise Team and was involved in every aspect of ministry at the church. She served as an Officer of the Church for many years. She loved ministering to her Sisters in Christ as well as the children and youth of the church. She is described by her family as their rock who kept everything together for them all the time. She was beautiful externally and she had a beautiful soul to match. Her husband describes her as one of God's Lights who shone brightly. Maria was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Antonia Martinez, two brothers, Martin Martinez and Jesus Reyes and two brothers-in-law, Joe Gonzalez and Lee Pritsch. Survivors include her husband and companion of 21 years, Daniel Salazar, of the home; four sons, Reynaldo Garza and wife Melissa, Kelly Soto, Michael Anthony Garza and Daniel Rey Pedro Salazar, all of Plainview; two sisters, Vicenta Gonzales and Carmel Pritsch, both of Sundown; and six granddaughters, Refugia Maria Garza, Jasmine Garza, Antonia Analise Garza, Vicenta Ysenia Garza, Carmel Marie Garza and Valentina Bella Garza.
