Robert Hugh 'Bob' Hollars Family is inviting everyone to a final farewell hooray for the late Robert Hugh "Bob" Hollars, 82, of Plainview. Hollars died on Feb. 8, 2016. The family is planning the celebration event for 2 p.m. April 22 in the east side of the Plainview Cemetery. Hollars was born March 9, 1933, in Vernon, Texas, to parents William Dee and Mamie May Hollars. Hollars was a Plainview High graduate and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Hollars married Sandra Leslie in Lubbock in 1959. The couple had five children; Diana Cannon, Leslie Dee Hollars, Rhonda Rochelle Day, Amber Loretta Akram and Arthur Williams Hollars. After the military, Hollars worked for Tom Houston's Peanut Company for 35 years. After moving back to Plainview, Hollars opened The Upholstery Shop and ran the business for 38 years. At the same time, Hollars invented the board game BLARF. Hollars also loved to spread the word of Jesus through religious tracks. Hollars had nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
