Gifford, A.J.

A.J. Gifford, 91, of Plainview passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016. Viewing will be Thursday, April 14, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. At the request of A.J. Gifford, there will be no planned services. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Gifford was born on June 12, 1924, in Lebanon, Oklahoma, to Arvis and Jewell Gifford. At the age of 13, he moved to Amherst, Texas. He married Elouise Robinson on Oct. 24, 1942. Mr. Gifford served in the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, from 1943 to 1944. He farmed in Kress and Amherst. He worked for B.F. Block, Bill Block and Hal Inman in well work. Mr. Gifford worked on and drove concrete trucks for George Smith, Hal Inman and T.C. Wall. He was preceded in death by his wife Elouise, daughter Bernice Mae Early, two sons Donald Leroy Gifford and Marcus Gifford. He is survived by one son: Bobby Gifford and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
