Adell Thompson Feb. 27, 1922 ? March 4, 2016 Cleo Adell Thompson age 94 of Amarillo, formerly of Plainview died on Friday, March 4, 2016. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2016, at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter Street, Amarillo, Texas. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Plainview Memorial Park, Plainview, Texas. LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S Coulter St. Mrs. Thompson was born February 27, 1922 near Grand Saline, Texas, to Henry Lee Skinner and Oree Whitt Skinner. She attended schools in the Wentworth Community and in Grand Saline. Adell Skinner married Tull (Bud) Thompson Jr. on July 22, 1939, in Grand Saline. They were married 61 years. She moved with her husband and sons to Plainview where they farmed until their retirement in 1985. Adell moved to Amarillo in July 2003. Adell loved her family. Her three boys were her pride and joy, and she and her husband were persistent in making sure they received a college education. They had seven granddaughters who received college degrees as well. To the granddaughters and great-grandchildren, she was "Adell." She was a member of 9th & Columbia Church of Christ in Plainview, where she resided for 55 years, and later a member of Central Church of Christ in Amarillo. Adell was an avid reader and loved to play duplicate bridge. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband Bud, her son Ronnie and brothers LeeRoy, Benny, Dean and Phil. Survivors include two sons and their wives Gary and Nanetta Thompson of Amarillo and Dennis and Nancy Thompson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; granddaughters Shelia Thompson, Debra Mikulik (Bryan), Cathy Bergami (Tom), JoBeth Hopp (Steve), Linsey Thompson, Kelly Thompson and Tracy Thompson; great-grandchildren Alexa Kate and Oliva Mikulik, Keely, Hailey, Dane Hopp and Bella Bergami; sisters Imogene LaPrade and Elaine Rains. The family suggests memorials to High Plains Children's Home P.O. Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114-7448 or Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174-0001. Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6, 2016, from 4-5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
