Smith, Troy Earl

Troy Earl Smith, 84, of Plainview passed away on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, in Plainview. A Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Jeremy Gilbert officiating. Private graveside services will be held at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Troy was born on Sept. 4, 1931, in Canton, Texas, to John and Billie Smith. He grew up in Canton before his family moved to Plainview in 1946. He farmed for many years and also did some custom harvesting. Troy also drove a truck for several years before retiring. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Wilkerson and husband Mike of Oklahoma; son, Franklin Smith and wife Treva of Banks, Oregon; sister, Rozlyn Cookston and husband Bill of Plainview; three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
