Mathis, Bernice Pyle

Bernice Pyle Mathis, 92, of Plainview passed away on Monday, Feb. 2, 2016, in Plainview, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Kornerstone. Bernice was born on Aug. 20, 1923, in Elmore City, Oklahoma, to Esker and Rosie Pyle. She was a waitress for many years in San Angelo and in Plainview. She was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her father Esker Pyle; mother Rosie Pyle; brothers Arvel, Calvin and E.M. Pyle; sisters, Claudia Belt and Eunice Lynn; son Michael Ray Mathis; and granddaughter Ronda Mathis. She is survived by her son Larry Mathis and wife Janet of Odessa, Texas; grandson Billy Mathis of Odessa, Texas; granddaughter Danna Fillman and husband Tony of Odessa, Texas; great-grandson Austin Mathis and wife Angela of San Angelo, Texas; great-granddaughter Randa Hayes and husband Lance of Midland, Texas; niece LaGay James of Plainview, Texas; nephew Johnny Belt of Plainview, Texas; and four great-great-grandchildren, Carter Ray Mathis, Kai, Dax and River Hayes of Midland, Texas.
