Stark, Malcolm Lytton

Malcolm Lytton Stark, 93, passed away on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, in Plainview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Malcolm Lytton Stark was born on Feb. 25, 1922, on a farm northeast of Plainview, Texas, to Avie and Ona Stark. He was the fifth of eight children and was also the last surviving member of that immediate family. Mr. Stark attended Plainview schools until his junior year of high school. After the beginning of WWII, his father took him out of school to assist him in plumbing three military bases for the U.S. military. Later in 1942 he was drafted and joined the U.S. Air Force. He served first as a gunner and then as a flight engineer in the 8th Air Division stationed in England. In 1943 he married Ola Honeycutt; together, they had three children. Mr. Stark attended the American Television Institute in Chicago and became a television technician. He owned Stark's TV Repair for 18 years. He later owned and operated three self-serve laundries in Plainview. He was a faithful member of Garland Street Church of Christ and served as a deacon for 34 years. Mr. Stark was preceded in death in 2001 by Ola Stark, his wife of 58 years. He was married to Mertice Lester in 2003 until the time of his passing. Mr. Stark was blessed with two families and many friends throughout his life. He is survived by his three children, Larry Stark of Arlington, Texas, Karen Stark Lowrance of Bandera, Texas, and Dianne Stark Grahn of Howland, Ohio; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his wife Mertice Lester Cobb and her three children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
