Rinaldo 'Ray' Sanders Memorial services for Rinaldo "Ray" Winfield Sanders, 84, of Plainview will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at First United Methodist Church Chapel with Dr. Max Browning and Rev. Jeff Taylor officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Sanders died Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, in Plainview. He was born April 18, 1931, in San Angelo, Texas, to Ralph Rinaldo and Aza Bertha Sanders. He graduated from Santa Fe High School and was a member of the Santa Fe Ski Patrol. After high school, he entered the Navy as a Mine Specialist on the USS Wasp during the Korean War. After the war, he enrolled at Texas Tech University and was a proud member of the Saddle Tramps. He received his degree in International Trade. He married Marsha Walls on May 7, 1960, in Plainview and they cherished each other for 55 years. He loved to fish and enjoyed serving as president of Plainview Bass Club in its early years. He was a member of the Plainview Country Club for 40 years. He was an avid golfer and loved the Red Raiders. He is survived by his wife, Marsha Sanders of Plainview; two daughters, Kendra Pollreisz of Amarillo and Laurie Shaw of Lubbock; three grandsons, Aaron, Evan and Jake; and one great-grandson, Kingston; and two well-loved dogs.
