Obituary
Burns, Edward F., Mrs. (Martha Delmare)
Martha Delmare Burns of Round Rock, Texas, passed away peacefully on Dec. 10, 2015, at the age of 89. She was born on Sept. 10, 1926, to Henry and Rose Delmare in Los Angeles, California. Preceding her in death were her husband, Edward F. Burns; a daughter, Linda Dickson (Curtis Dickson); and a son, Douglas Burns. Left to cherish her memories and legacy of faith are her children, Debbie Hall and husband Monte Hall of Jarrell; June Carter and husband Michael Carter of Lubbock; and Timothy Burns and wife Karen Burns of Dripping Springs; 15 grandchildren, Jeff Dickson, Jennifer Phillips, Matthew Dickson, Angela Miller, Naomi Burns, Tess Burns, Andrea King, Meredith Brown, Alecia Harris, Rachel Brown, Lynsey Taylor, Bethany Hogan, Hannah Hogan, Sam Burns, Aimee Burns; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Martha married Edward F. Burns on June 10, 1951. They moved to Bledsoe, Texas, in 1961 where they farmed for 18 years. Upon retirement from farming, they moved to Plainview, Texas, in 1981. After Ed's death, she moved to Round Rock, Texas, in 1988 where she resided until her death. Martha was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She cherished her family and amazed all her grandchildren with her technology abilities by staying in touch through texting, sending pictures and emoticons. She never met a stranger and made new friends everywhere she went. Her commitment to Jesus Christ and prayer ministry were her mission. She made an impression on all those she came into contact with up to the moment of her death. Martha was always available to her family and friends to stop and immediately pray for their needs; it was her passion. Martha stayed busy during her retirement years by volunteering for Seton Northwest Hospital, Round Rock Caregivers, Voight Elementary School, her church, and sewing quilts for the Linus Project. Her gift of encouragement was expressed daily by remembering her family and friend's birthdays, special occasions and life events through cards and letters. She had a green thumb and loved caring for the gifts of plants and flowers from her family and friends. Her legacy and love of music, piano, accordion and her beautiful alto voice is a cherished memory by her children and grandchildren. Our mother loved the Word of God. She was known for her memory and ability to quote a scripture for any given moment or need. The Bible was her most cherished possession and she had many that are tattered and worn from use. Her love, instant and continuing prayers and presence in our daily lives will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 13, from 4-6 p.m. at Beck Funeral Home on 620 in Austin, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at Beck Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Pat Brown and the Rev. Chuck Moran. Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview, Texas, where she will be buried alongside her husband, Edward. "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hand to the needy. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise, and call her blessed; her husband, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excelleth them all. Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates."
