Brookes, Anthony W. (Tony)

Anthony W. "Tony" Brookes was born August 8, 1924 in Pontypridd, Wales. He served in the HMS British Royal Navy. Anthony lived in Canada from 1948 to 1953, and in the U.S.A. since 1956. He married Barbara Jean Allgood October 20, 1951 in Burford Ontario, Canada. He was a dance teacher in Canada and in the U.S., managed a private post office and owned real estate. Anthony died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in Lubbock. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Brookes of Lubbock; 2 sons, Michael A. Brookes and wife Patty and Timothy Brookes both of Lubbock; 3 daughters, Pamela Jean Brookes Wagers and husband Mitch of Amarillo, Valerie Kathleen Brookes of Lubbock and Melanie Eileen Brookes and Guy Callender of Wellington, New Zealand; 6 grandchildren, Christopher William Ray, Elizabeth Ann Brookes, Sydney Milan Gonzalez, Samantha Kristen Brookes, Jack Brookes Callender and Ruby Jean Callender. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.
