Obituary

Arjona, Jesse J.,Jr.

Jesse J. Arjona Jr., 66, of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Plainview, passed away on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, surrounded by family. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 6-7 p.m. at Lemons Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home. Jesse was born on May 3, 1949, in Lockney, Texas, to Jesus and Angela (Alaniz) Arjona. He attended school in Lockney. Jesse proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam and it always touched and impressed his family members because only one tour was required. He proudly volunteered for the second tour feeling the need to continue to serve (in spite of his mother's disapproval). Jesse married Violeta Medina in 1975 in Chicago. During his lifetime, Jesse served in several capacities. At the very young age of 23, he was already honored to be the security supervisor with Jewel Food Stores in Chicago in charge of an 80-man team. He was a licensed Airframe Powerplant Mechanic and was entrusted to work on Air Force One. Before his retirement, he was an electrical technician with Boeing. His family describes him as a brilliant mathematician who knew how to work the stock market. He liked anything "mechanical" and enjoyed working on his own car. He was quite the baseball player as a younger man and later, he enjoyed watching family members playing sports. He raised his own boys to excel in sports. Jesse loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Tanila Hernandez and recently, his best friend and nephew, Victor Rodriguez Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife and companion of over 44 years, Violeta; three sons, Albert Arjona and wife Elena Sanchez of Irving, Jesse Arjona III and wife Jennifer and Michael Arjona, all of Wichita, Kansas; one brother, Victor Rodriguez Sr. of Plainview; one sister, Margie Arjona Woehrle of Frisco and seven grandchildren, Isabella, Ava, Kinsley, Austin, Alexis, Alessandra and Achilles.
