Obituary

John M. Zimmerman, 67, died Wednesday, May 27 at the Country Club Manor of Amarillo. He was born Feb. 7, 1942, in Waco, Texas. His family soon moved to Plainview where he graduated from Plainview High School in 1961. After high school he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock and West Texas State College in Canyon. While in Plainview, John worked with his parents at the Plainview Tribune which was owned and operated by his family. When he moved to Amarillo in 1982 he was employed by Graphic Equipment and Supply and worked for Don Grimm at that company until he retired in July 2004. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, John Paul Zimmerman and Estha Sullenberger Zimmerman of Plainview. Survivors include his sisters, Paula Williams of Plainview and Sue Davis of Fort Worth. His memory is also cherished by his four nieces and nephew in Plainview, Lubbock and Fort Worth. Mr. Zimmerman was strong in his Christian faith. A memorial service will be held at a later date. It was his request that his body be donated for scientific and medical research at a science care facility. The family requests that donations or memorials be made to the charitable foundation of your choice.
