Obituary
Mark Zapata, 24, of Plainview, formerly of Odessa, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2013, at Covenant Lakeside Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 28, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Arsenio Redulla officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2013, at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Mark Anthony Zapata was born on Feb. 3, 1989, in Plainview, Texas, to Daniel Ramirez Zapata Sr. and Estor (Moreno) Zapata. He grew up in Plainview and worked as a landscaper. Mark liked to have fun, hanging out with his friends or going out with them. He loved his music and loved pets, especially his pit-bull Cletus. He liked taking pictures of his friends and family, and loved cooking out, particularly burgers and chicken strips. He will be missed by all those who knew him. Mark is survived by his brothers and sisters, Edward Moreno of Bartlett, Daniel Zapata Jr. and Carl Zapata, both of Plainview, Richard Zapata and Erasmo Zapata, both of Odessa, Lina Hernandez of Fort Meade, Fla., Elizabeth Ortiz of Baja, Calif., Jenny Zapata of Austin, Eugene Zapata of Wichita Falls and Christopher John Zapata of Odessa; his aunt and uncle, Dolores and David Baldwin of Odessa; his other aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
