Obituary
Genevieve Filip Young, 88, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 13, 2007, at 3:35 p.m. at Covenant Hospital in Plainview. She was born to Albert Filip and Mary Klasek Filip on March 1, 1919, in Woodstock, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings and a daughter, Joyce Young Ritzert of Woodstock, Ill. Genevieve is survived by a granddaughter, Lynn Ritzert of Kress, Texas, who was her caregiver for the last six years of her life. Genevieve spent only 11 days in a rehab and received her wish to never be admitted to a nursing home. She is also survived by a grandson, Richard Ritzert of Rushville, Ill.; two great-grandchildren and two best friends, Maryland and George Lilja of Woodstock, Ill. "Grandma," "Gram," "Jenny" Genevieve Young was a talented, hard worker with careers that varied from waitress, factory worker, cook, postal worker and policewoman. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Abernathy, Texas. There will be a memorial held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, at Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview, Texas.
