Obituary

Funeral services for Bessie Mae Wylie Young, 74, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in 11th and Amarillo Church of Christ with Marion Gion and Van Miller officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Young died at 3:29 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at her daughter?s residence. She was born May 11, 1927, in Abernathy. She had lived in this area since 1959 and was a retired waitress at Nu-Griddle and Congress Inn restaurants. She was a member of 11th and Amarillo Church of Christ. Her hobby was quilting and sewing. On April 5, 1947, she married Carlton Young in Plainview. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Carolyn Brain of Plainview and Linda White of Vermillion, S. D.; one son, Marvin Young of Hereford; two brothers, Oscar Ray Wylie of Dimmitt and Price Wylie of Plainview; one sister, Helen Bynum of Kingston, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. A son, Ladell young, one grandson, two great-grandchildren, one brother and three sisters are deceased. The family suggests memorials to VistaCare Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
