Obituary

Funeral services for Johnny James Wood, 85, of Plainview will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Lemons Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joseph Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Wood died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at Prairie House Living Center. He was born July 19, 1924, to James Franklin and Vivian Wood in Bastrop County. He married Louise "Lou" in February 1977 in Gainesville. He was self-employed and sold scrap metal for many years before retiring in 1999. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a stepdaughter, Juandene Smith and her husband, Aaron, of Dallas; three brothers, David Wood and Ronnie Wood of Plainview and Eddie Wood of Pampa; five sisters, Mary Dunn of Dallas, Tricia Pomykal of Plainview, Patsy Matthews of Amarillo, Naomi Jones of Lockney and Sandra Edwards of Lubbock; his stepmother, Daisy Wood, of Plainview; one step-granddaughter; and two step-great-grandchildren. His parents; a brother, James Franklin Wood Jr.; and four sisters, Nadine Henson, Verena Wood, Bonnie Keen and Louise Middleton, are deceased.
