Wood, Herman Bower

Cotton Center ? Funeral services for Herman Bower Wood, 71, will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Lemon?s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Trabig, pastor of United Church of God in Lubbock, officiating.

Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Wood died at 5:55 a.m. today, Jan. 28, 1999, at his residence in Cotton Center

He was born Aug. 14, 1927, in West Jefferson, N.C. where he grew up and attended schools. He began working for Triumph Explosives then joined the U.S. Air Force and served from 1944-46. After his discharge he returned to West Jefferson and worked in a saw mill. He moved to Cotton Center in 1961.

He was a member of the United Church of God in Lubbock.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Wood of Cotton Center and Harold Wood of Houston; his mother Lucy Brown of Cotton Center; two brothers, Robert Wood of King George, Va., and Dennis Wood of Shelton, Wash.; two sisters, Dorothy Denny and Cherie Snow, both of Winston-Salem, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, the Hale Center Senior Citizens Center, or to Hospice of Lubbock.
