Wood, Berry,Jr.

Funeral services for Berry Wood Jr., 75, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lemons Memorial Chapel with Lanny Voss, a layman from First Baptist Church, and Dr. Travis Hart, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Wood died at 6 a.m. Sunday, June 11, 2000, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Albuquerque, N.M.

He was born April 4, 1925, in Roscoe. He attended schools in Fairlie and moved to Plainview in 1950. He sold shoes for Napp shoe company and started the Wood Chemical & Equipment Company in 1959. He retired in 1982.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.

On June 21, 1975, he married Betty Ruth Merrell in Quitaque.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Leah Smith of Minden, La., and Donna Burton of Muleshoe; two sons, Steve Wood of Vancouver, Wash., and Don Douglas of Midland; two sisters, Jo Marie Winton of Dallas and Tressie McFadden of Sulfur Springs; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A son, Michael Berry Wood, is deceased.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
