Ben Wofford Died Sunday
Ben Wofford died in this city Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o?clock, from chronic Bright?s disease. The funeral was held at the Methodist church, of which he had been a life-long member, yesterday afternoon, Dr. Ernest E. Robinson conducting the service. Interment followed at the cemetery.
The deceased leaves seven sons and daughters?Mrs. A.W. Sternenberg of Tulia, Mrs. Ben Hardy of Stratford, Mrs. Morris Randall of Seymour, Fred Wofford of Lockney, H. A. and C.D. Wofford of Plainview, and E.E. Wofford of Lubbock, all being present at the funeral except the latter, who was on a hunting trip to the El Paso county, and could not be reached.
Mr. Wofford was 72 years, three months and seven days of age, having been born in South Carolina in 1847. He was married there to Mollie Lancaster, and she was the mother of the sons and daughters mentioned above. The family moved to Texas thirty years ago, settling near Albany, in Shackleford county. His wife died fifteen years ago, and twelve years ago he married Mrs. Bramley Shoemaker, whose death occurred three weeks ago in this city. For the past five years he made his home in Mineral Wells, but was this fall unable to return to that place. (November 2, 1919)
