Obituary

Jake Wilson, 89, of Plainview passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Trinity Fellowship Church with Pastor Steve Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2010, at the funeral home. Jake was born March 20, 1921, in Frederick, Okla., to Jacob and Grace Wilson. He grew up there and graduated from Frederick High School in 1939. He and his brother formed a trucking business after high school. He enlisted into the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He returned home after the war and continued operating the trucking business. He also started working in the grain business and operated grain elevators for three decades. He was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church. He married Betty J. Hudson on Jan. 3, 1942, in Frederick, Okla. Survivors include his wife, Betty Wilson of Plainview; four children, Larry Wilson and wife Gwyn of Plainview, Patty Taylor of Plainview, Marc Wilson and wife Carolyn of Austin and Richard Wilson and wife Rosie of Richmond; eight grandsons and one granddaughter; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
