Obituary

Funeral services for Mavis Williamson, 85, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church Chapel with Dr. Lewis Holland officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Williamson died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at Covenant Hospital Plainview. She was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Rule and attended schools there. She married J.J. Williamson on Feb. 29, 1939, in Haskell. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad, so they lived in many communities. They moved to Plainview in 1952 where she worked at Payne's Gifts and Jewelry for 15 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Harmony Sunday school class. She is survived by her husband; one daughter and son-in-law, Lucy and Jim Ferrell of Plainview; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Cindy Marietta Williamson of Santa Fe, N.M.; one sister, Eunice Hunt of Ennis; one grandson; and one great-grandson. Her parents, Robert and Nanny McCaul; and two sisters, Opal Simpson and Clara McCain, are deceased. The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, 1001 W. Seventh St., Plainview, TX 79072; Cal Farley's Boy's Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX 79174; or a favorite charity.
