Obituary

Funeral services for J.J. Williamson, 89, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating, assisted by Dr. Max Browning. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mr. Williamson died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at Prairie House Living Center. He was born Dec. 11, 1918, in Wise County and grew up in Haskell. He graduated from Haskell High School in 1937. He and Mavis McCaul were married Feb. 28, 1939, in Haskell. She died Nov. 20, 2007. Mr. Williamson worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad so they lived in many different communities. They moved to Plainview in 1952 and he retired in 1978 after more than 40 years service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Harmony Sunday School Class. He also was a past president of the Rotary Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvis and Ada Williamson; a brother, Quinton Williamson; and a sister, Odell Bynum. Survivors include a daughter, Lucy Ferrell and husband Jim of Plainview; a son, Charles Williamson and wife Cindy Marietta of Santa Fe., N.M.; a brother, Lynn Williamson of Oklahoma City; one grandson; and one great-grandson.
