Steven Mark Williams Celebration of Steve's life will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at First Baptist Church Chapel of Plainview with Dr. Claude Lusk and the Rev. Jim Taylor from San Antonio officiating. Steve died Dec. 8, 2014, in North Carolina. He was an organ donor and his remains were cremated. Steve was born Jan. 14, 1963, in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School in 1982. He reported for duty in the Marine Corps in September 1982 and served 21 years. He trained in California and San Antonio, Texas, before going to Quantico, Virginia. He later was stationed at Parris Island, South Carolina, Okinawa, and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, earning the rank of master sergeant. His varied duties were brig security, drill instructor, swimming instructor and brig supervisor. After leaving the Marine Corps, he worked with security contractors and served five years in Iraq and Afghanistan. Steve loved God, country, his family and his many friends. Steve gave his heart to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a young teenager and that faith carried him through many joyous experiences and some rough times, too. Steve belonged to the Baptist church and was a Master Mason. Steve and Lisa Douglas were married in 1983 but later divorced; however, they were blessed with four children: Bradley, California; Cody, North Carolina; Kendra Mack and husband Hershel, Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Kayla Williams, Lubbock. Steve and Karen Michaels were married in June of 2004 and bought their own mountain in West Virginia where many wonderful experiences were shared, hunting, hiking, riding motorcycles and being outdoors. Steve is survived by his wife Karen; children, Brad, Kendra, Cody and Kayla; three stepsons, Brandon, Jordan and Taylor Michaels; four grandchildren, Hailey, Amber and Kristen Williams and Elijah Mack, three step-grandchildren, Emilee, Andrew and Joseph Michaels; Steve's father Bill Williams and wife Sandra of Drasco, Arkansas; his mother Pat Christian and husband Clarence of Plainview; one brother Perry Williams and wife Tammy of Plainview; and one sister Debra Lee and husband Boyd of Lockney; three uncles, Kenneth Burnett and wife Barbara of Cotton Center, Neal Burnett and wife Donna of Plainview, and Jack Williams and wife Mary of Belton, Texas; and five aunts, Jan Whitfill and husband Raymond of Plainview, Evadean Horton of Fort Worth, Moena Burnett of Lubbock, Martha Burnett of Cotton Center and Darlena Burnett of Frisco; three nieces, Kandice, Tiffany and Brittany; a nephew Billy Carl Lee; and more cousins than we can count! Family in Heaven to greet him are fraternal grandparents Loye and Mable Williams, and maternal grandparents W.E. and Lena Burnett Sr.; and three uncles R.J., W.E.
