Williams, Marvin Harvey, Mrs. (Vera Lorene Jones)

Funeral services for Lorene Williams, 85, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ wth Kim Hays and Johnny McDonald officiating.

Private burial will be by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.

Mrs. Williams died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, in Lubbock.

She was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Wilbarger County and grew up in Fargo. She worked as a tailor fro Hilton Cleaners, Norris Cleaners and K.C. Cleaners for many years and also worked for Carpenter Cleaners. She later worked as supervisor for Fuller Products for several years and did alterations in her home.

She was a member of Ninth and Columbia Church of Christ where she taught children's Bible classes.

On Jan. 24, 1946, she married Marvin Williams in Tulia. He died in 1994.

Survivors include a sister, Ellen Chiddix of Plainview; and four sisters-in-law, Floy Williams, Freda Jones, Verna Mae Jones and Udell Brown, all of Plainview.

Five brothers, LaMur Jones, Dent Jones, Ed Jones, Tollie Jones and K. Jones, and seven sisters, Ida Lou McCourt, Clara Hayhurst, Gladys Cartwright, Tommie Fox Evans, Mozene Rattan, Mary Joe Matsler and Ola Powell, are deceased.
