PETERSBURG -- Glenna Williams, a longtime resident of Petersburg, departed this life on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, in Lubbock at the age of 92 years. She was born on Dec. 14, 1911, in Commerce, Texas, to the late Virgil and Jessie Etier Pharr. Mrs. Williams married Horace Williams Sept. 14, 1930, in Hugo, Okla. They moved to Petersburg in 1936. Mr. Williams departed this life in 1993. Mrs. Williams then moved to Lubbock in 2002. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Petersburg, where she worked in the church nursery and was a member of the Senior Citizens in Petersburg for many years. She was a homemaker. Those left to mourn her passing include: two sons, Gene Williams of Lubbock and Jim Williams of Ruidoso, N.M.; six daughters, Jo Willis, Margaret Ward, Sarah Anderson and Debra Jones, all of Lubbock, Faye Fry of Floydada and Colline Rhoads of Plainview; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Cecil Robinson of Kress, Earnestine Sitton of Lubbock and Jo Stallings of Claremore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, in First Baptist Church of Petersburg with the Rev. John Lowrie officiating. Burial will follow in Petersburg Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Lubbock. The family will receive friends at White Funeral Home of Lubbock, from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30. The body will be at First Baptist Church in Petersburg from 10 a.m. until service time and the family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. until service time.
