Obituary

Funeral services for Carroll P. Williams, 78, of Plainview will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview with Dr. Travis Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Visitation with the family will be from 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday at Kornerstone. Carroll P., as his family fondly called him, died peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010. He was born Sept. 7, 1931, in Childress, Texas, to F.M. and Stella Williams. He married Wanda Harrington on Oct. 17, 1952, in Childress. They raised their four children in Plainview. Carroll P. worked for Bryan & Hoffman, which later became High Plains Pavers of Plainview, for more than 40 years before his first retirement in 1996 and for J. Lee Milligan Construction of Amarillo for 10 years before his second retirement in 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his four children and their spouses, Mike and Diane Williams of Lubbock, Monte and Amanda Williams of LaVernia, Marcy and Gary Wilson of Plano and Christy and Lanney Bennett of Plainview; along with seven grandchildren, Katy and Chad Townley of Lubbock, Dr. Michael Williams of Austin, Amy and Kenneth Lloyd of Monahans, Nick and Alisa Green of Plano, Thomas and Jilliann Williams of New Braunfels and Macy Bennett and Mallory Bennett of Plainview; and four great-grandchildren, Madilyn Green, Austin Price, William Townley and Alexandra Townley. He also is survived by one brother, Bob Williams of Olton; one sister, Edith Simmons of Amarillo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Carroll P. was a hard-working, loving, ornery and passionate man who made a huge impact on all those around him. He was a Mason and will have a Masonic burial.
