Obituary

Peggy Ileyn Compton Williams, 83, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother of six children, passed away peacefully on Nov. 20, 2012. Peggy was born on Friday, Sept. 13, 1929, to Iley and Ethel (Bubba) Hullum Compton at Compton Corner in Childress. She was the oldest with a sister and four brothers. Peggy graduated from Childress High School in 1946 and attended college at Texas Tech. Her soulmate was back home in Childress, and Mother chose to start her adult life with Arlon Joe Williams as they were married March 1, 1947. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Iley and Bubba Compton; by her husband of 51 years, Arlon Joe Williams; and by her brother Iley Compton Jr. She is survived by three children, Arlon Joe Williams Jr. (Jackie) of Huffman, Nick Williams (Susan) of Odessa and Cindy McCoy (Terry) of Sugar Land; sister Jean Harris (John) of Amarillo; brothers Mike Compton (Lynn) of Wichita Falls, Jerry Compton (Maria) of El Paso and Tony Compton (Carole) of Lubbock. Peggy is also survived by her grandchildren JoLeigh Williams Haupt, Jeremy Williams, Reagan Whytlaw, Abby Bishop, Justin McCoy and Kelly Rainbolt. Her great-grandchildren are Haleigh, Holly and Harrison Haupt, Hadley and Grady Nick Whytlaw and Mallory Bishop.
