Obituary

Reuben G. White, 93, of Plainview passed away Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Prairie House Living Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. White was born Sept. 10, 1914, in Detroit, Texas. He moved from Red River County in 1920 to Plainview and farmed and ranched until War World II. He worked for Pantex in Amarillo during the war years. Reuben married Jimmie Mae McCaffree on April 15, 1939. Jimmie passed away March 30, 1989. He also had a daughter, Linda Sue White, who passed away Feb. 27, 1945. In 1944, he started working as a building contractor with Raymond Jamison Construction and was there for 25 years. In 1969, White, Belk, Cook Construction Company was formed and he took part in that company until retiring in 1976. Reuben was a charter member of Plainview Bass Club and a member of College Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his son, R. Mack White and his wife, Cecilia Ann, of Plainview; a sister, Betty Jo Steddum of Gun Barrel City; two grandchildren, Robert M. White of Matador and Cathy Ann Widener of Plainview; a great-granddaughter, Keeley Dawn Obenhaus and her husband, Lance, of Plainview; and a great-great-grandson, Landon Keith Obenhaus of Plainview.
