Obituary

Funeral services for Ottis Gene White, 69, will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church with THE Rev. Drew Travis, pastor, officiating. A private burial will follow under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview. Mr. White passed away on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at his home. He was born to Ottis and Dot White on Oct. 7, 1938, in Plainview. He married Connie Stokes on Feb. 7, 1959, and remained in Plainview the rest of his life. For a few years he worked with his dad as a carpenter. Later he went to work with his father-in-law at L.L. Stokes Ditching Service, taking over the business after Mr. Stokes' death. In 1980, he went to work at Plainview High School as a teacher of the metal trades program. He retired from PISD in 2000. Mr. White was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Central Plains Good Sams Club. He was also a member and on the board of directors for the Roaring Springs Ranch Club. Gene is survived by his wife and four sons, Lonnie (Rusty) and Kim, Ronny and LaQueta, Rodney and Deanne, and Royce and Patty, all of Plainview; eight grandchildren, Jeremy and wife Wyndi of Plainview, Chris and wife Krissy of Lubbock, Jason of Plainview, Ross of the United States Marine Corps in San Diego, Calif., and Jared, Tiffany, Julie, and Ryan, all of Plainview; and three great-grandchildren, Skylar, Ashton and Rylee. Also surviving are his mother, Dot White; a sister Treva and Earl Tenery; a sister-in-law, Martha White; several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ottis White; a brother, Bob White; and a great-granddaughter, Madison White.
