White, James Lester

Funeral services for James Lester White, 98, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Wood-Dunning Colonial Chapel with Benny Durham of Kress officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.

Mr. White died at 11:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, in Plainview Healthcare Center.

He was born March 17, 1905, in Mineral Wells and was raised nearby in the Prairie Chapel community. He was orphaned at an early age and made his home with his paternal grandparents. He moved to Hale County in 1930 and farmed in Cotton Center and Edmonson for 38 years.

He married Nana Blanche Reeves of Hale Center on Nov. 27, 1937, in Clovis, N.M. He retired in 1968 then moved to Plainview. He enjoyed gardening and traveling.

Survivors include his wife; four nephews and their wives, Melvin and Jackie White fo Torrington, Wyo., James and Betty White of Colorado Springs, Colo., Perry and Carol White of Lakewood, Calif., and Lee White of Houstan.

Three brothers, two sisters and several nieces and nephews are deceased.
