DUMAS - Funeral services for Alvin Lee "Al" White, 75, former Plainview resident, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Plainview Memorial Park with Marion L. Gion, a deacon at 11th and Amarillo Street Church of Christ in Plainview, officiating. Burial arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. White died Sunday, March 31, 2002, in Dumas. He was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Bells. He lived in Plainview before moving to Dumas in 2001. He worked for various oil and gas-related businesses including Watson Propane in Dumas. He served with the Army during World World War II, and with the U.S. Air Force from 1948-1952. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Plainview. On Sept. 11, 1960, he married Viola M. Haney in Paducah. Survivors include his wife; nine daughters, Laura Gion and Carol Rogers, both of Dumas, Minnie Green of Sunray, Margie Stephens of Taft, Calif., Janet Poole of Idalou, Norma Annette Martin, Beverly Jean Dodson and Rhonda Claudette Loving, all of Sherman, and Margaret Walden of California; two sons, Alvin Lynn White of Sherman and Olin Browning of Maryland; two sisters, Dallie Mae Rodgers and Mary Etta Keller of Tom Bean; three brothers, Robert J. White, Billy Joe White, both of Tom Bean, and Daniel Paul White of Killeen; 26 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Two daughters, Tammie White and Elaine Welch, and three grandchildren, are deceased. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight in Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas and suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
