PLAINVIEW - W.I. "Bill" Wheeler, 86, of Sepulveda, Calif., a former Plainview resident, died Sunday, April 19, 1992, in Van Nuys, Calif. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Wood-Dunning Colonial Chapel with the Rev. A.C. Hamilton, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery.

Mr. Wheeler was born in what is now Oklahoma. He grew up near Gainesville in Cooke County. He married Lorena E. Sanders Jan. 30, 1923, at Crowell. She died Sept. 20, 1988. He moved to Plainview in 1930 from Crowell and moved from Plainview to Vallejo, Calif., in 1943. He retired from the Southern Pacific Railway after 20 years as a mail clerk. He worked in the shipyards in California for about 20 years. He had lived in Los Angeles County since 1985. He was a member of Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, William E. Wheeler of Panorama City, Calif., and Claude B. Wheeler of Oakland, Calif.; a brother, John Wheeler of Crowell; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
