Obituary

Funeral services for Betty Jo West, 75, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Travis Hart officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. West died Sunday, July 23, 2006, at her residence. She was born May 3, 1931, in Plainview to Thomas Jefferson Sewell and Laura Mae Hartsfield Sewell. She married Delmar Andrew West on June 3, 1950, in Tulia. She owned and operated Lakeside Day Care Center. She also worked at Bentley's Dress Shop and was manager of Jody's Dress Shop. She was very active in the community and was a member of RSVP, PTA, Home Demonstration Club, Women's Lions and Plainview Friday Bridge Club. She was a leader and sponsor for Brownies and Cub Scouts. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Plainview. Survivors include two sons, Randy Dale West and Thomas West, both of Plainview; one daughter, Jeannie Moore of Matador; two sisters, Marie Daniel of Amarillo and Mary Alice Tucker of Memphis; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband; one daughter, Sandra Jo Hayes; one brother, Thomas Sewell; and three sisters, Elene Thomas, Corene Zulauf and Elda Reams are deceased.
