Welty, Othel Doyle, Mrs. (Annie Mae Bowlin)

Funeral services for Annie Mae Bowlin Welty, 91, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Lemons Memorial Chapel with Wayne Horton of Colorado City officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Welty died Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Midland after a brief illness.

She was born Nov. 11, 1909 in McGregor to Henry and Nancy Bowlin. The family moved to Lubbock in 1919 and she graduated from Lubbock High School in 1926. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Tech and taught school in Sudan, Tahoka and Plainview before retiring in 1974.

She married Row Cowan in 1930. He died in a truck accident in 1939. She married Euel Smelser in 1941. He died in 1957. She married Othel Welty in 1964. They moved to Midland in 1995 and he died in 1996.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and John Huckabay of Midland; a son and daughter-in-law, Lewis and Nelle Cowan of Lubbock; two sisters, Lucille Masten of Abilene and Henrietta McElroy of Lubbock; six grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren.
