Obituary

Naomi DeJarnett Weathers, 90, of Plainview passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at First Baptist Church Family Life Chapel with the Rev. Ron Warren officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. A visitation for family and friends will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Naomi was born May 4, 1920 in Quitaque, Texas, to Garland Henry and Sylvia Ann Rieff. Her mother passed away when she was 13 years old, so she and her older sister took care of the younger children. She met and married Major "Mike" DeJarnett in Cotton Center on March 19, 1939. They farmed there for many years until he passed away in 1965. She later moved to Lubbock where she met and married J.L. "Len" Weathers on April 18, 1970. They moved to Petersburg where they lived for 14 years. He passed away in 1984. In 1992, Naomi moved to Plainview and attended First Baptist Church. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; three sisters, Gladys Hudgins, Evelyn Allen and Opal Barnes; and a brother, Glen Rieff. Survivors include her sons, Don and Sandra DeJarnett of Hale Center, Texas, and Ken and Brenda DeJarnett of McAllen, Texas; her stepdaughter, Carol and Troy Fox of Petersburg, Texas; her stepsons, Jim and Lavenia Weathers of Fort Worth, Texas, and Alan and Priscilla Weathers of Spring, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Brian and Christa DeJarnett of Norfolf, Va., Matt and Nicole Hobson of Houston, Texas, Gary DeJarnett of Hale Center, Texas, Rex and Deborah Witten of Hale Center, Texas, Devin Lewis of Seattle, Wash., Scotty and Jennifer Brunington of Fort Stockton, Texas, Doug and Julie Porter of Keller, Texas, Dusty and Corrie Sides of Brock, Texas, Aaron and Jaime Larmer of Fort Worth, Texas, Jeff Weathers of Austin, Texas, and Daniel Weathers of Austin, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren, James Hobson of Houston, Texas, Austin and Grant Witten of Hale Center, Texas, Brooke, Tanner, Kyle and Dillon Brunington of Fort Stockton, Texas, Jacob and Carson Porter of Keller, Texas, Logan, Luke and Gracie Sides of Weatherford, Texas and Taylor and Cooper Larmer of Fort Worth, Texas.
