Obituary

Lana Watson received her final healing on March 11, 2014, and went to see her heavenly father . . . Born Lana May Grisham on May 13, 1954, to Reva Lou and James C. (Jim) Grisham of Edmonson, Texas, she grew up in the Edmonson community, was saved and baptized at Edmonson Baptist Church and attended Plainview schools where she graduated in 1972. She then graduated from Lippert's Business College in Plainview. After working in the savings and loan business for several years, she found her preferred work at the Federal Land Bank in Plainview, where she worked for more than 28 years. She dearly loved her co-workers, directors and especially her hundreds of customers. She truly had an ability to work with and love each one of them and considered each one a lifelong friend. Lana loved to sing and sang in quartets, ensembles and duets most of her life. She taught Second Grade Sunday School at First Baptist Church in Plainview for many years. Although she was a member of the Venture Club for a while and a life-member of the PTA, it was in her children, Carey Lane and Terra Laurett, and all their friends where she found her greatest pleasure in life. Lana had a grace that allowed her to love each kid for who they were and made sure that each one knew they were always welcome in her home. That pleasure was only surpassed when she became a grandmother, and she treasured the name "Grana," which she wore as a crown. She married Rodney Lane Watson of Plainview on July 14, 1973, where they happily called home until her death. Survivors include her husband Rodney of the home; Carey Watson, wife Lacy and grandchildren Aisley Grace and Hayes Lane of Cincinnati, Ohio, Terra Watson Smart and husband Kyle of Lubbock; mother Reva Lou Grisham of Plainview; brothers Dale Grisham of Plainview, Richard Grisham and wife Velma of Roswell, N.M., sister Jeanine Oraivej and husband No'Man of Corona, Calif.; brothers-in-law Richard Watson and wife Linda of Plainview, Lenard Watson and wife Deborah of Abilene, Texas; and sister-in-law Dawn McMillan and husband Ronnie of Frisco, Texas; 17 nieces and nephews, and 16 great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. today, March 16, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 17, in the First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Dr. Travis Hart officiating and Dr. Tim Marrow assisting. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. The family suggests memorials be made to Wayland Baptist University's Music Department, 1900 W. Seventh St., Plainview, TX 79072.
