Funeral services for Versie Ann Washington, 94, will be at noon Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Gardner, pastor of Rehoboth Christian Worship Center, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Willie Ansley Sr. and the Rev. Joe Washington. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Washington died Sunday, June 4, 2006, in Plainview. She was born Feb. 9, 1912, in Kosse. She had lived in Plainview since 1950, moving from Branchville. She married Henry Washington on Feb. 16, 1936, in Kosse. He died Sept. 25, 1995. She was a childcare provider and member of Rehoboth Christian Worship Center in Finney, and a past member of Women's Social Club, serving as missionary and mother of the church. Survivors include five sons and three daughters-in-law, Earnest "Honey Bear" and Doris Washington, Riley Washington, Billy and Thelma Washington and Robert Washington, all of Plainview, and Joe and Effie Washington of Fort Worth; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Hazel and Virgil Austin and Melrose and John Hearon, all of Dallas, and Jewel and Willie Ansley of Plainview; one brother and sister-in-law, L.C. and Dorris Stidom of Cameron; two sisters, Ruby Moore of Gause and Teresa Hickman of Bryan; 34 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
