Obituary

Funeral services for Harlan Wallingsford, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Martin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Wallingsford died at 11:20 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at Plainview Healthcare Center. He was born Jan. 10, 1926, in Valley Mills, Texas, to J.B. and Alice Sisk Wallingsford. At age 16, he went to work for Plainview Plumbing. He then served in the Army during World War II in the infantry and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He married Laverne Nell Howard on Aug. 18, 1949, in Plainview and went back to work for Plainview Plumbing until 1988. He then worked as a self-employed plumber until he retired in 1992. He was a Master Plumber and a member of Parkview Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Mull and husband Buddy of Plainview and Jackie Howard and husband Lonnie of Abernathy; one son and daughter-in-law, Randy Wallingsford and wife Becky of Slaton; one brother, Jerome Wallingsford of Matador; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Juanita Robertson of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A daughter, Starlene Clark, is deceased. Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
