Obituary

Allene Wallace of Plainview passed away at home on March 30, 2010. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Louie E. Wallace of the home. She also is survived by her three children, Sandy Wall and her husband, Dee, of Plano, Lonnie Wallace and his wife, Cathy, of Oklahoma City and Susie Sweenhart and her husband, Jeff Cohlmia of Albuquerque; her surviving grandchildren, Wendee Brosig and her husband, Chris; Justyn Davidson and his wife, Michelle; Kim Martin and husband Derek; Oliver Wallace and wife Michelle; and Brandon Wallace, Brandy Wall, Katie Dunn and JC Dunn; and her seven great-grandchildren, Breeanne and Brice Brosig, Julia Davidson, Mackenzee and Brayden Martin and Naiya and Ian Wallace. Allene was born in Loveland, Okla., on Aug. 27, 1923. She graduated from Hagerman High School in New Mexico in 1943. She attended business college in Lubbock at both Draughon's and Merriman's. After living in Lubbock for 23 years, she and Louie spent the last 42 years in Plainview. She retired from Hale County after 16 years of service starting as chief deputy for the tax assessor and spending most of those years as deputy clerk. For the last 15 years she and Louie have owned a local business in Plainview. She has been the "Sweetheart" of Louie since high school, holding hands until the end. She could not have been loved more by her adoring children. The most cherished "Mimi" to all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The true heart and compass of a family based on love and faith. She left with dignity and grace, just as we knew she would. Our family offers its thanks to "The Girls," Marcy, Anjelica, Linda, Deana, Lucy and Duby, for all their love, hard work and dedication. We are grateful for the support of the entire staff of Area Community Hospice, especially Gail, Martha, Marcy, April, Aleena, Odilia, Diane and Etta. We also are thankful for the love and care of Sylvia Sepeda and Solida Mesta during these final few months. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Bartley Funeral Home in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010, at First Christian Church of Plainview with the Rev. Garland Wallace officiating and Dr. Max Browning assisting. Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Area Community Hospice, 3109 Olton Road, Suite C, Plainview, TX 79072; or to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org (1-800-372-3900).
