Walter Paul Voyles, 83, of Plainview, passed away Aug. 19, 2015. The family will receive guests at Lemons Funeral Home today, Aug. 21 from 5-7 p.m. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview. Paul was born Sept. 3, 1931 in Winona, Missouri to Thomas Preston and Martella Jane (Broadfoot) Voyles. He moved to the Plainview community in 1943. In August 1994, he married Marie Hooten Voyles and they were married until her passing in May 2007. Paul is described by his family as a kind and gentle man. He lived a very simple life, walking almost everywhere he went. He never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a handshake and a smile. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; two brothers, Ernest Voyles and Lloyd Voyles and two sisters, Mary Harriss and Daisy Wood. Survivors include one stepson, John Travis Hooten of Plainview; one brother, Sam Voyles and wife Mattie of Plainview; one sister, Lucille Henderson of Plainview; stepgrandchildren, Samantha J. Pinkerton, Brandon Pinkerton, Julie Pinkerton, Tyler Hooten and Travis Shane Hooten, all of Plainview. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
