Obituary

Funeral Mass for Ray G. Vera, 72, was at 2 p.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial was in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Vera died Monday, April 21, 2008, in Plainview. He was born May 30, 1935, in Ballinger to Ottviano and Eugenia Vera. He moved to Plainview in 1946. He married Bertha Diaz on Dec. 23, 1953, in Plainview. He went to Barber Trade School and opened Vera's Barber Shop. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife; six sons, Ray Vera, Virgil Vera and Carlos Vera, all of Plainview, Dennis Vera and Gilbert Vera, both of Fort Worth, and Larry Vera of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Erma Trevino and Martha Medina, both of Plainview; two brothers, Robert Vera and Otto Vera, both of Plainview; two sisters, Maria Rodriguez of Plainview and Josie Soto of Fort Worth; 28 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. His parents; three brothers, Miguel, Martin and Raul Vera; one sister, Fransisca Guevara; and grandmother, Larissa Vera, are deceased.
