Obituary

Funeral Mass for Martin G. Vera, 79, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Arsenio Redulla officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mr. Vera died Monday, May 7, 2007, at his residence. He was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Ballinger to Octoviano and Eugeina Vera. He married Ramona Torres on April 9, 1946, in Ballinger. He moved to Plainview in 1950. He was self-employed as a sheep shearing contractor until his retirement in 1989. He moved to Amarillo in 1999. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Plainview. Survivors include his wife; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Arthur and Susie Vera of Plainview, Raymond Vera of Fort Worth and Juan J. Vera of Amarillo; two daughters and one son-in-law, Oralia V. and Juan Saldua of Del Rio and Rosalinda Cerda of Amarillo; three brothers, Roberto Vera, Reynaldo Vera and Otto Vera of Plainview; two sisters, Maria Rodriguez of Plainview and Josie Soto of Fort Worth; 20 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. His son, Martin Vera Jr.; two brothers; and one sister are deceased.
